/ Eco Grandeur
The enchanting
‘Bridge of Dreams’
As you traverse the enchanting 'Bridge of Dreams', you’ll
find a 2km Blue Ribbon educational trail, aimed to enhance
biodiversity by creating stepping-stone habitats that
connect wildlife populations across parks, gardens, and
greenspaces in Puncak Alam.
These microhabitats include: the Sacrificial Garden, Rasbora
Sanctuary, Fruit Forest and Betta Sanctuary.
Here, medicinal plants like Lantana camara and Melastoma malabathricum thrive without the use of pesticides, providing a safe haven for butterfly caterpillars and insect larvae. This conscious effort to sustain biodiversity ensures that butterflies, birds and small mammals have access to essential food sources.
The Rasbora Sanctuary is an aquatic haven designed to mimic natural ecosystems. Using biomimicry (Greek for ‘imitating life’) in the drainage canal architecture, the design helps moderate water flow during storms and provides safe passage and refuge for fish species like Rasbora. This approach also helps maintain the delicate ecological balance of waterways within Eco Grandeur.
The Fruit Forest, an urban food forest mimicking natural ecosystems, features primarily fruiting trees. It will yield pesticide-free food, promote outdoor learning, mitigate urban heat, absorb carbon, and serve as wildlife habitat. This space is dedicated to research partnerships aimed at optimising urban food production.
The Edible Garden is unique for being a purpose-built feature dedicated to the cultivation of numerous edible plants within the back lanes of homes in Eco Grandeur. The dedicated plots also acts as a hands-on learning space that empowers residents to explore sustainable urban gardening techniques, such as companion planting and water-efficient irrigation. By showcasing how productive, low-maintenance food systems can be integrated into the urban landscape, these gardens help to promote self-sufficiency and healthy eating habits for the community.
Located along the Asian-Australasian Flyway, over 20% of the township is covered in greenery.
You might also encounter the other ‘residents’ of Eco Grandeur—the biodiverse flora and fauna that share this beautiful space in Puncak Alam.
Acisoma panorpoides
Another ‘resident’ emblematic of the healthy waterways of Eco Grandeur are dragonflies. This azure one here is known as the Grizzled Pintail.
Lesser Whistling Duck
Waterfowl such as this Lesser Whistling Duck are important for ecosystems as they can introduce new plant, invertebrate, amphibian and fish species to the different habitats they visit.
Junonia Orithya Wallacei
Junonia Orithya Wallacei, or the Blue Pansy, is a vibrant butterfly found in Southeast Asia. Its striking blue and orange wings with eye spots flourish in open fields, gardens, and forest edges.
Crested Serpent Eagle
The Crested Serpent Eagle, found across South and Southeast Asia, hunts snakes and small mammals in forests and woodlands. Its powerful build and sharp talons make it a skilled predator.
